Our Work
Environmental Stewardship
McKenzie Community PIER Improvements
The McKenzie Community PIER Improvements Project will bring forth continued progress and growth to a community space that offered safety and refuge from the 2020 Holiday Farm Fire. Planned improvements to the community track and field will foster a positive, purposeful, welcoming, and healthy environment for athletes and visitors of all ages and abilities, while promoting the values of teamwork, personal growth, and sportsmanship. The team envisions a renewed, sustainable space developed by community and for community that will allow for long-term engagement, camaraderie, competition, and, when needed, refuge for our neighbors. This improved space will bring enhancement to the local economy and support the resilience of the strong McKenzie community.

Purpose-Driven Nonprofit Support

Offering Non-Profits Support in their Growth
Since 2012, BESThq has supported VetREST in their efforts to mentor and support Veterans across the nation. The mission of VetREST is to help Veterans navigate their return to civilian life through mentoring and hands-on small-scale farming and offer safe and supportive environments where they can achieve wellness themselves and produce healthy food for our nation. BESThq offers support in marketing and communications, as well as program development and management of various Victory Gardens throughout Portland.
Community Engagement
Maupin Deschutes River Athletic Complex
The Deschutes River Athletic Complex in Maupin, Oregon is a world class facility in an extremely unique environment and location. BESThq was brought on board to facilitate the community visioning, support, and enthusiasm for the project. BESThq produced and hosting various community engagement events to promote and build excitement both during track construction and post opening.

Project Management

Portland Parks and Recreation Gateway Green
In 2024, Portland Parks and Recreation (PPR) hired BESThq to be the Project Manager for their Gateway Green Park, which offers much-needed off-road cycling and outdoor recreation opportunities in East Portland. Now accessible directly by public transit, there’s a system of soft-surface and paved multi-use trails to explore the unique site and connect to the regional trail and cycling network. BESThq managed preconstruction and construction efforts and coordinated team activities with all stakeholders including PPR, Greenworks Landscape Architects, Urban Forestry, and Raimore Construction.
Event Production and Management
Business Expo West
For the past 15 years, BESThq has put on Business Expo West, a premier trade show aiming to connect the local small business population with job seekers, mentors, and inquisitive students from the area. With a focus on education, igniting, and advancing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) growth for the next generation and current professionals, this event offers exhibits, speaker sessions, and high-quality networking.
